Is this a worthy upgrade??

I am very tempted by the "Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail" deal on OC at the moment.
My question is, is this going to be a decent upgrade for me at the moment? (see my sig for my current spec) Or will my CPU be a "bottleneck"??

My next major upgrade will likely involve a new mob & CPU but I cant quite afford it just yet!!

Is going from my 6800GT to this ATi X1950 going to make a decent difference in my gaming??

Thanks....

i'd say upgrade it or atleast i would instead of shelling out upwards of £250+ to get a conroe bundle. seems the logical and sensible upgrade path atm for yourself.

A 3200+ won't bottleneck it too much, and if you overclock that Venice then it won't bottleneck at all.

As for wether an X1950Pro would be a big improvement over a 6800GT, I think you'll need new pants. ;)

Also, an answer to the question that went un-asked: Your PSU will be absolutely fine.

My friend bought that card (256Mb version) and he is very pleased, one thing though is the stock Sapphire cooler is noisy!

I got the 256MB Power-Colour X1950Pro which includes a mahOOsive Artic cooler, costs a little extra but runs very quiet . . .

I went for the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3, it came on Friday, am very happy. It is a massive upgrade from my old X850XT, and I am happy with the results, its a bit more than the pro, but it has more pixel shaders and with a little OC'ing, it can be an XTX ;)

Would be a very good upgrade & keep you gaming for a lot longer.

Thanks for all the opinions guys, looks like I might look into this as an upgrade in the next few days.

All I need to do now is find a buyer for my BFG 6800GT OC - any ideas how much this card is worth now??

Cheers,

StevieP
