Is this acceptable coil buzz?

My Vega64 has been noisy from the moment of Install (not quite 14 days).
It's not the power supply as I've tested it with a friend's superflower 800 psu to rule my psu. Even undervolted at 1400mhz@900mv it makes the buzzing sound.

Basically it's the exact same sound a Fiji makes when under load here,
It's particularly bad in benchmarking, in games when capped to 60fps it's quieter but still kind of noticeable. Turning on speakers or allowing the fan to spin over 2400rpm does drown out the buzz, but I'm not sure if a £460 card should be doing this. As in quiet moments you can hear it

Here's fire strike which is worse due to current draw.

Here's dishonored 2.

Ok but if I pay to send it back to ocuk and they state it's fine and acceptable and nothing wrong with it, I've wasted time and money.

I thought i had coil wine on my 1080, turns out it was because i had got my speakers volume turned too high, but op System volume turned too low.

Amazed me how it perfectly matched fps rise/fall from screaming high to low pitched =D

It doesn't sound too bad in the videos. Are they a good representation of what you're hearing?
Yeah it's pretty much on the same level as the air noise of the fan at 1500rpm. In dishonored it's border line acceptable but in hitman it's more of a lower frequency buzz.
I personally don't think it's acceptable but then if you run Vega out the box then you'll be more offended by the fan air noise.

The only time I get coil whine is when v-sync is off and is directly related to the framerate my system can produce.

Silent with vsync on

This is true for the following graphics cards I have owned. All pretty much by the same amount.

ati 4870
ati 6970
nv 780
nv 980ti x 3
nv 1080ti

Have you tested in another system? I've recently had multiple 1080Ti's and coil buzz so loud I could hear it through my headphones. I could hear it with fans at 100%.

Just swapped to an 8700k build, same card, same psu and it's been reduced by 90%.

Tyler; yeah I have tried it in friends 6500k system with a superflower 850w. Was exactly the same.

Simon; I have been using heaven, superposition, valley and firestrike and gaming for about 3-hours total.
It's not any different, it sounds like one of the coils is resonating too fiercely when current draw is in action.

Ok no problem thought it was worth a try.

If it's acceptable for you then keep it. If not, then return it simple as that.

No point in keeping it if it's driving you insane during normal use in games.

From the videos you have posted the coil whine doesn't seem that bad, I have had and tested a lot worse for sure. Even my own personal graphics card will produce that whine under load or high frame rates.

There are ways to help reduce coil whine and some times it is influenced by components within the system such as your PSU.

If you are returning it back we can for sure test it if you think it is defective, but if we test it and no issue is found or its within tolerances it would be returned back

Thanks for your feedback, I imagine it will come down to the test process you guys would carry out.
I've just come back from an interview and have been playing with the card for the last hour. It's not horrific but it is in my opinion borderline, on one hand I will not deny that out the box without undervolting the fan noise is louder than the coil buzz. However in a custom profile at reduced voltages and lower fan speed it can be heard, but then turning on my speakers the buzz cannot be heard either way

I have heard identical coil buzz on a gtx1080ti and an rx470 so it kinda eases me/annoys me.
Is there any clarity on what would be acceptable tolerance ?

Is it enough to annoy you OP? That's you need to ask yourself.

True same as to what Tyler said.
If I had a 120/144hz monitor it would be sent back no question, as I'm waiting for my new 75hz va screen to ship, I think I can live with it, it's just I know it's there.

The potential hit on resale value alone would make me send this back but its hard to hear in the YouTube videos.
