Is this any good for me?

Should work fine, though just to be sure make sure that your on the latest bios version for your motherboard. Seen a few users have compatibility issues with new cards on older boards. New bios fixed the issue.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the help, very much appreciated.

My BIOS version is 0303 and the latest is 0803, but there no mention anywhere about needing to update the BIOS for a new(er) graphics card.

I think I will go ahead and purchase this card. If it don’t work, I can always update the BIOS if needed.

My power supply is:-
HiperPower 580 Watts ATX2 Ultra Quiet HPU-4M580-PU v2.0

The one I bought from Overclockers 5 years ago. Is there a problem?

Please let me know before I purchase. I won’t buy this card until next weekend.

One last question? Is it quiet? It has to be quiet..

Thanks once again for the help and continued support. What a great bunch of guys (and girls of course).

Cheers,

Kimmy

It is reasonably quiet in both idle and load modes, however there are quieter versions out there.

Your power supply might be a bit of a problem. Check this out:

http://galax.net/KFA2/970exoc_black.html

According to the manufacturer's website, your PSU requires a minimum of 42 Amps on the 12V Rail.
According to your PSU's specifications, it has 2 12V rails delivering a total of 38 Amps.

This means that you might be pushing your power supply when gaming/having the system at full load. Overclocked, you will probably get BSODs.

id upgrade your psu before getting a new card. those psus were notorious back in the day :D . though yours has done well.

deff update your mobo bios.
