Is this any good?

Hey all,

Just planning my new build...
Is this a good combination:

Any recommendations would be great, as I've never brought a sound card or a pair of decent speakers before

The Soundcard, Yes

The Speakers I dont know.

The 2 Gigaworks kits are good though.

I'd say Aego M's are your best bet if you want 2.1 or 2.0 PC speakers.

They are quite nice, but I was possibly looking for a bass as well... Does it make much of a difference?

Also, does the sound card make a noticable difference?

when you say a bass, do you mean a subwoofer? or a bass guitar?

doesn't make MUCH difference to music, if you want better quality music don't look at the x-fi range, better to get a proffesional sound card.

If you are going to be indulging in a bit of everything, ie. music, games, films, the creative x-fi you initially linked to (or This) with the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers would give a decent sound.

However, if you mostly listen to musc, with only a little bit of gaming and films I would look at the M-Audio Audiophile 26/6 or E-MU 0404 soundcards, with a hi fi amp (something from Cambridge Audio or Nad) and speakers...
