Is this as fast as its going to get?

Hi Guys,

Just subbed to Sky for their bb services.
My current stats are:-

Broadband Link

Downstream 8528 kbps

Upstream 1109kbps

Line Attenuation
Downstream 46.5 dB
Upstream 28.9 dB

Noise Margin
Downstream 7.1 dB
Upstream 7.7 dB

Are those line stats any good? Need to do some reading up I think.

Looks ok to me. Might be able to squeeze a bit more out of it but not much.

My stats for comparison on Sky are:

Speed 10838 kbps / 1078 kbps
Attenuation 36.5 dB / 21.9 dB
Noise Margin 5.8 dB / 8.5 dB

mine are

Broadband Link-----------Downstream--------------------Upstream
Connection Speed--------10235 kbps---------------------1117 kbps
Line Attenuation----------39.0 dB-------------------------22.6 dB
Noise Margin--------------1.6 dB---------------------------10.10 dB

attenuation is all about roughly how far away you are, noise margin is interference on the line, higher numbers = worse connection

Noise Margin 6.4 dB 11.0 dB

For the line attenuation I would say they're pretty much spot on.

You have made me feel better (just).

I get an extra 300kbps down, and my attenuation is 20dB less for both.

But it is better in the cooler months!

Ring sky & ask them to put you on a G.dmt profile, I'm on that hence my line speed but its far more stable due to the fact that adsl2 use higher frequencies & often can give you a worse speed on a longer line.
