Is this Beemer a good deal?

Yes, very good deal IMHO. Low mileage, Autobox, Leather and Silver - most desirable prefaclift E46 around bar the M3 so its hard to see quite why its so cheap.

If it checks out, go for it..

I thought it looked a bit TOO good for the money  ...

Think I might see if my Uncle can go and take a look for me, He lives in Cornwall and I'd be gutted to travel all the way down there from London just to be let down...

Cheers,
Melon.

Not at that money. 330D's are poor value unless you do decent mileage becuase they cost so much more than 330i's.

He could get one for about a grand more than the one in the OP with more or less identical spec, from looking around autotrader, he'll get a manual box too, which imo is better. Its more but not much maybe 10%.

Good deal for such a low mileage car, cant really lose for that price.

Id be after a facelift, but you would have to accept high mileage and hunt around a bit to get it in for the same money.

Depends what he prefers, the manual box is a much better drive on the B-roads, but its hassle round town, and its a lot shorter than the auto and thus noisier on the motorway.

Yeah... I prefer the look of the facelift... just that one seemed such good value...

At what point would a petrol 3 series engine become a bit of a gamble? 80 - 100k?

Obviously every engine is slightly different and you might get lucky... but what would you suggest as an accepted cut off point?

Melon.

Manual 330d Sport with 60k and leather for £8k? Yea, right. Show me.

I said 10% more than the OP so more like £9K, only difference is that this car is an SE - i take that to mean special edition/equipment rather than sport, but a auto sport lol, not very sporty is it, its just a label you dont get much extra, certainly not a power upgrade, some body trim and alloys maybe but thats all cosmetic and subject to opinion.

The sports are MUCH better  The gearbox has nothing to do with the sport package. No way i'd buy an SE.
