better than opteron [email protected] 2gb corsair 3200 cas2 asus kn8-e

Please advise as my current rig maybe going to a friend if the spec above is better ..

For doing what? You have 2gb in your current PC which will make a difference in some applications more than others.

The Opteron is no slouch either still, it won't clock as well as the Conroe or be as fast overall but it is still a decent machine.

oops sorry I would get 2gb of ram , not 1gb oh AND gamming really

In that case go for the Conroe and overclock, you should see a nice boost there. Just remember to get a good cooler like a Tuniq Tower or a Scythe Ninja.
