Will an ocz modxstream pro 600w be enough to power an fx8350 and eventually an hd 7970 or will I need a more powerful psu

it probably will do but it will be pushing it a bit, as it only does 504w max! you wont be able to overclock with it,
i would buy a new Decent psu!

Thnx for input. I won't be getting the hd7970 for a bit and will be using a measly hd5450 in the meantime so I guess I have plenty of time to upgrade the psu and order other parts 1st. Just out of interest what psu would you recommend. I like the look of the xfx psus and was lookin at the 750w madular one so it gives me room for any future upgrades

XFX are good, along with Seasonic and Superflower.

Just to give you a idea my system with a 7970 and a overclocked 4770k pulls 330w from the mains at full load.

well a 650w would be fine for 1 gpu and the rest of the system but say for 2x290's you will want an 850w.
there is a reason why oc dont sell xfx as there rma/warranty is pathetic, yes they are made by seasonic but if something goes wrong with it you are screwed, my xfx 850 fan ball bearings were dying after 1 year! so i will never buy xfx ever again

I think that proves itself really, you don't need a new PSU, in my eyes anyway.
