Honestly probably not, they're mostly exam crams and then some random not necessarily super networking 'cert guides' which sound fairly useless. Best bet is to grab something like gns3 and build your own network in a lab - I'm not necessarily a dedicated Net Eng but I do a lot of NSX work so have to be fairly comfortable these days, I would say following the core curriculum of the CCNA is still fairly useful, but don't get bogged down in the Cisco world anymore.

Thank you. I already have Computer Networks by Tanenbaum and TCP/IP Illustrated Volume 1. Would they be a good start (I haven't actually got around to reading them yet).

I mean both are damn good books, but they're not necessarily beginner books. They're technical and deep dive style books. I certainly wouldn't start with something like TCP/IP Illustrated until I had a real good understanding of the fundamentals. Tanebaums book basically starts from what I remember with pure maths it's that sort of deep dive theory book.

Thank you. I'll look into the CCNA books or at least the topics it follows.

Ccna when i did it years ago felt like a good overall. What area of networking, routing now days look at bgp. If your in cloud there are specifics.
