Brother is after a cheap decent gfx card and I found a cheapy one online.

Inno3D 8500GT 1GB ddr2 128bit vga dvi tv out pci-e for £48.33.

Clock speed = 460Mhz
Ramdac clock speed = 400Mhz
OpenGL 2.0
DirectX 10
1GB GDDR2 SDRAM
2560x1600 Res

Any opinions?

Will be run alongside an amd 64 x2 5600+ with 2gb ram, on XP.

This one would prob be better, more clocks, the fact it has 512Mb memory rather than 1 gig wont matter unless he's got a big monitor and games at high res, which I take it from rest of set up he doesnt? And it'd save you £2.34 lol
You'll find ATI tend to have better budget options than Nvidia, i find so anyway

It's still total cack for gaming, assuming he wants to game at this point.

if you're not in a hurry to buy one check the B grade section for a good deal from time to time.A while back there's a bunch of 3850's there for just £52 .I also pick up my 9600GT there for just £45.

As I said I doubt from rest of set up he games too intensely anyway
Why dont you spec a good gaming card for similar budget then?

Above poster did it, smashed the card, 320SP's vs 80.

Also around that budget I'd suggest looking in MM, maybe posting in wanted too, could come up with something like an 8800GTS G80 or 8800GT for that price.

Go on then, click that 'Buy' button. :p

Bah. Ninja. :(

EDIT: not sure, its been like that for weeks now, its very strange.

yes it is for gaming, has a 19" lcd with a max res of 1600 i think.

its not a great setup but a lot better than the p4 3ghz pos he has now :)

thanks for the suggestions, i'll go and do some research on them.

so are clock speeds more important for gaming than ram amount? budget is around £60.

the RAM has more effect on resolution where as the clocks more on actually handling settings like detail and AA etc. If youre under 24" monitor therefore 1920*1200 resolution a 512Mb card is ample
