Im after a faster PC for college, how good is this spec

It's okish. If you're coming up from Pentium 4 then it's a decent upgrade. It will handle your day to day tasks and some light gaming but not much more. What do you use it for?

How much is that guy asking?

Give us a price, guessing second hand and we can recommend kit that will be much better than that..

You have to think about quality, psu, mobo etc.

A new corsair cx 400w, is a stable, cheap, quality PSU.. You don't want to be fobed off with some crap cheap gear now..

Erm If so I would say anything over £200 is way to much for that second hand.

You could build new one from scratch to those specs for around 250-70

Post how much you have to spend and what you REALLY expect to do with this rig?

I've just fiinished slapping together £150 worth of second hand parts to run a Ubuntu 10.4 plaything thats quicker than that spec!

Thread drift... I have just gone down the Ubuntu path with a view to ditching windows if I can get everything I use to work well

I used it befor and found it great but couldnt get my fav game to work at the time.
