Is this the correct cable to be using, if I want to connect a Nvidia GPU using Duel Dvi, and connecting the other end to the displayport on my monitor?

I guess im asking If cables like that "non active" work running both ways, AKA if the displayport was at the GPU end, and the DVI was the monitor end and vice versa.

No, they are DisplayPort to DVI and not the other way around. If you require 120Hz or a WQHD resolution you would need to spend over £100 on a very specialist active adaptor (look at a company called Atlona) which will provide DVI Dual Link to MiniDP capabilities. You would then need a simple MiniDP to DP adaptor. These specialist converters are designed for connection of the Apple Cinema Display 27" to devices which use DVI and lack DP. Due to the high cost, limited availability and the fact it is white and requires a spare USB port this isn't an ideal solution. If you only require 60Hz and a 1920 x 1200 or lower resolution Apple sells some slightly cheaper active adaptors, I believe.

Im not sure you understand what I want to do, all I want is to run a "single" cable if possible (without the need for an adaptor) from my graphics card (Dual dvi) to my monitor (Normal displayport, not mini) . Is this doable with a single cable?

As per the addition to my post above at the end it would still require an active adaptor to do it that way around.

I think it sounds easier, and cheaper, to just get a monitor instead that has both DP and Dual DVI. Would solve ths issue of being limited to only 1 method of connection.
