Hi, i just installed windows 10 in uefi mode(chouse the boot device with UEFI in front of it), all went well, then checked in windows and i have 3 partions and says uefi, but in uefi bios, my ssd boot device has not got UEFI in front of it anymore, should it have ? or was that only when installing windows in uefi mode ? been told by a few people this is correct and im ok, but i just want confirmation, cheers

I've read that few times and can't quite understand what you are saying.

Anyway, the install creates the following partitions:

Recovery partition

System - this EFI partition contains the core OS files like NTLDR, HAL, Boot.txt and so on, which are required to boot the operating system.

MSR - the Microsoft Reserved (MSR) partition that reserves space on each hard drive for internal use by Windows.

Primary - this is usual partition where Windows and all user data will be stored.

hope that helps

Yes i have all thouse partitions, but when i go into bios, my boot drive does not have the UEFI in front of it anymore, maybe that was just for installing windows 10.

ok, type in MSINFO32

look for an entry that says BIOS mode.. should be under system summary (first screen).. it should state either legacy or UEFI . If it's the later... you're good anyway :)

superb.. just as a second check .. can you also do diskmgmt.exe

does the drive device show efi?

i know in the past, i've created the efi on separate drives by mistake and even on removable drives..
