Hi, can you take a look at this cpu loop and tell me if its good or can be improved.

Im getting it for a Phenom 2 550, that im going to oc to 4GHz or more.

I'll be using an antec 900 case.

EK-Supreme CPU
XSPC DDC 18w Ultra Pump/Reservoir
XSPC RS360 120mm Radiator
EK 1/2" Hose fitting
XSPC 7/16 Clear - 1m
PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 3/4"- UV Blue
XSPC Tubing Clip For 1/2" Hose
PrimoChill ICE Non-Conductive Coolant
3 X Scythe S-FLEX 1600RPM Ultra Quiet 120mm Fans

Comes to about £210

I plan to add stuff for a 1Ghz 4890 later.

are TFC Xtenders worth getting?

Thanks.

well just a few pointers...

I think the 1600rpm fans are a bit much for this rad...
you can easily get away with it with some 20db 1000rpm unless if you have a rheobus.

2ndly I would strongly advice adding a second rad inbetween the cpu and gfx. you will see a noticeable temp diff.

when it comes to tubing i found the 10mm/13mm or else 3/8 to be the sweet spot
afterall most of the pressure drop come from the block

and one last thing.. if you gonna be cooling only th cpu then a double rad is sufficient. and add the triple once you add the gfx on the loop.

but if money is no problem then you are much better getting the RX rad with the 1600rpm fans.

have fun modding

A second rad is a bad idea and where you put the rad in the loop makes no difference due to equilibrium. It's extra restriction and not really needed, better off with one bigger rad. Use de-ionised/distilled water for better performance.

sorry weescott but i disagree.
I went from... double->cpu->single->gfx
to... double->single->cpu->gfx and went up 3-5 degrees. noticable diff.
so equilibrium slope does shift.

and as about restriction I disagree again. It will be defined by the most restricted point in the loop. i.e the blocks... not so much by the rads.

anyways....
nice to see you are still active weescott
take it easy

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone know how much better the XSPC RX is over the RS?

Is it worth the extra money?

I've got an RX360, however if you're just cooling the cpu then the RS360 would be fine. It is definitely worth the extra if you plan to add anything else to the loop at a later date though.

As grs_link said, these rads are optomized for lower fan speeds so anything much over 1000rpm really isn't that beneficial compared to the noise it would bring.

I was about to say you could get away with the DDC pro although just noticed you may plan to include the gfx at a later date. Probably best to stick with the 18w in that case.
