apologies for the cryptic title

I've got an OEM 5820k currently sitting in a box while I wait for the last of the parts for my build to turn up, its has 4 small vertical lines that I originally took as being part of the manufacturing process.
The other half got me the chip for chrimbo and the box wasn't sealed in anyway and I assumed that's how it was delivered

just been reading through a couple of build logs and came across an image of a 5820k that didn't appear to have any marks like mine

pic of my chip is in the spoiler tag below (hopefully I've linked it right)

so as per the title of the thread is this normal and am I just being a noob lol

you cant really feel them with your finger nail and they appear to be on top of the etched text, the fact that there perfectly in line and the same size means it must have been done mechanically.
I think a part of me was wondering if someone's had a go at binning it but I'm assuming there's no way that could be done with a heatsink so its probably just my own paranoia, maybe I'll still win the silicon lottery lol

Anyways thanks for the reassurance fellas

Id say it'll be fine. If someone had used it you would be more likely too see tiny marks round the outside edges where the heatsink made contact. All my cpu's over the years have had various little marks on the ihs.
