Shamelessly stolen it from Droolinggimps missus as the advice seemed very useful and the organisation of it was a lot better than my attempt. It's not an attempt at better or worse because she is far more trained in her areas that I'd be useless at and I'm better in areas she's not trained. I was looking for CVs to work off and following how everyone thought it was a great CV I figured I'd use it as a template and thought I should acknowledge that.

Do I put the GCSEs in like that?

Is it relevant for someone who would look for a finance position?

Just a copy and paste:
PERSONAL STATEMENT
A dedicated finance clerk who has 8 years experience in a busy office willing to join a team of professionals in providing our customers with reliable and accurate service. Providing data using current procedures and my knowledge I have in preparing and organising reports to suit a variety of managerial needs. I provided reports for an average of 15 people per day, to allow them to prepare the shifts for the day, week and the month. I feel my skills and attention to detail will benefit your office and contribute to the efficient running of the finance side of your business. My career at Asda I worked full time for 13 years from starting as a warehouse picker and progressed to finance analyst where I was responsible for implementing a new SAP purchasing system and training other staff on how to use it. I am a keen motorsports fan and that culminated in being EMRA F600cc motorcycle champion. I now enjoy long distance cycling and among my proudest achievements was completing a London to Paris charity ride to raise money for the charity Scope and attracted national media coverage for what people with disabilities can achieve.

Finance Clerk
Responsibilities:

Procurement and acquisition of various items to ensure the company was prepared at all times and in all eventualities was a key part as I had sole responsibility for a while whilst a new system was implemented and all the flaws were settled before training out to the team.
Every month purchase order ledger recording was done to allow the business to accrue costs which proved beneficial in projecting cost output.
Petty cash was recorded and dealt with on an adhoc basis whilst maintaining availability to provide cash securely. This recording was dealt with according to HMRC procedures.
Dealing with the in-house companies in providing payment but also providing them with the equipment necessary to provide a great service.
Transport was also a responsibility in ensuring drivers left with the correct loads on time and flexibility was needed to ensure that all targets were met with the available work force.
Operations room experience was gained in outbound and inbound operations relating to producing relevant accurate paperwork and liaising with the warehouse to secure resolutions to any problems that were encountered.
In 2015 I was also responsible for working as part of a national wages project away from home for 3 months which needed me to be accurate, flexible and punctual whilst maintaining an open mind to the problems that would be encountered and putting forward suggestions for a possible fix to senior management.
Key Skills:

CONTACT DETAILS

Dear

I am interested in applying for the position of finance clerk at the *insert* as seen on the *insert* website. I feel that my knowledge and skills in this role can be of added benefit to your business. I can be available for immediate start.

The position you have available interests me as I would like to expand my job skill set and possibly move on to other roles within your business if the opportunity arises. I am eager to expand my knowledge and feel that the position you're offering will be of benefit to both, myself and your business. I would like to be part of a team that provides great service to customers whilst maintaining a great integrity.

This role is something that I would consider very important to customers as they should feel they are being looked after and expect a great service and attitude. I can provide this with the knowledge I have gained over the last eight years.

Regards,

Missing words here and there, some of the sentences don't flow well and all statements should be backed up by evidence.

Sort this out and you have something half decent.

Cheers. I just realised after you said that it might give the impression I'll be at more risk of injury (snowboarding and motorbikes) and therefore time off sick so although it looks great, to an employer it might put them off. I'll amend that.

I'm no recruitment manager but for me it'd show passion and drive. Cycling alone is good enough I guess and maybe something else to replace the other two.

Some employers care some don't seem to give a toss :p

One thing you might want to consider is putting a line in with dates for the positions you held at Asda prior to Finance Clerk (i.e. did you do anything else in the five years after joining as a warehouse picker before becoming Finance Clerk?). Doesn't need to be detailed as presumably not relevant to the new role, it was just something that jumped out at me that in 13 years there is only 1 role listed under work experience.

Other questions to prepare yourself for is the 3 year black hole 1999-2002, after you completed A-levels and left Dixons but before starting at Asda. And obviously what you've been doing since leaving (uni access course?), but I'm sure you're expecting that.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take note of that. Exact career dates for 1999-02 I'm not entirely sure what job I was doing. I was doing either Dixon's or Unichem although have changed it a bit based on prior advice. I'll take yours under advisement too and try to reenact exactly what I was doing and when. I did lots of jobs at Asda but I'm not when I did it before 2008 due to my head injury and memory loss. If people ask I'll be honest but I'm not going to advertise it.
Thanks.
