Is this damage linked?

This is an odd one I admit, but I need the opinion of a few people.

Sometime last week my e30 was driven into whilst it was parked up (the car is not in usage at the moment). No note or any attempt to get in contact with me, so it was a "hit and run" with the only piece of evidence left was some blue paint transfer.

Yesterday I noticed that a neighbour's 406 is sporting a bit of accident damage to his NS/F wing. And Guess what colour this 406 is? ;).

The only problem is that his damage is in a very odd place for it to have caused the damage to my car. Pictures of the damage to my car:

The only thing I can think of is that he reserved next to my car, wound on too much steering lock and smashed it wing first into my rear 1/4?

Looking at the pictures now, I'm not convinced the one of his door is linked to me?

I left a note on his car and got a voice mail back to call him tomorrow. I need to now just how confidently I can shoot my mouth off claiming he did it? At the end of the day he has effectively written the car off (if I went through insurance, which it isn't worth doing) but depending on his attitude I'd be happy with an apology .

Thoughts people?

Thanks

Josh

The damage on his car appears to be a fair bit lower than the damage to your car. It's difficult to tell from the pics though.

So much of this happening these days.

The postman attacked my brothers car than drove off, they're doing the right thing and giving him a loan car while he gets his own fixed where he wants. Refreshing change from the norm, maybe due to their driver being at risk of a charge of leaving the scene.

I'm no expert, but i can't see how they would match, given that the damage on your car is above and behind the bmber, and his is fairly low down along the side/front of his car, also behind the bumper (I can't work out how the contact points would match without more damage in different areas).

Maybe it's different in real life but on the strength of those pics I wouldn't be shooting my mouth off too confidently. It's hard to see how those damages could be linked from the pictures. Checking the heights are compatible would be a help...

The damage on the door has had time to go rusty, so that's not to blame.

Your panel has been pushed with a "point", leaving an indent, then the point was moved away letting the corner hold it shape at the end by the lights. The damage in the 406 wing is in totally the wrong place to have done that.
