Is this dead? - Help needed

Hello all,

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 here which is a friends, It's currently not turning on with or without the charger lead plugged in but the charger led is on stating it's getting at least some power(I think?)

No fans/hdd spin up no response what so ever however the power button is missing but was told by my friend it used to turn on by just putting your finger in where the missing power button is(It seems to just be a chip can’t see no little button on the chip below where the power button is meant to sit)

I've tried another charger(But from a DELL laptop with the same power output) but still only the charger led comes on after putting my finger into where the power button normally is nothing again. I'm not sure what's at fault here looking for some advice really. I've read up and some people say it could be a dead motherboard or integrated video card but not sure what to do really, Do you think it's totally dead?

i'd say if its not coming on and you have made sure it hasn't got an off switch and no lights come on where the hd light would be [ normal there a light that shows its getting power ] then its dead in which case take it apart and have look and see if theres any lose wiring because there nothing to lose :0

You need to activate your Trust, click on the Trust button in Zooanksi's post and set it up.

If that don't help could always try the oven trick eg.. Take out motherboard and put it the oven for an hour there are a few guides about some ppl get dead laptop/gfx cards working again

Hmm heard of re-heating an xbox 360 MB to fix RROD issue's never thought of this lmao
