Is this definitely a PSU issue?

Posting on behalf of a friend. His PC will not show any signs of power at all - no lights, no fans, nothing. He built it about a week ago and it was fine for a few days and now it won't work at all. PSU was a corsair one, more than enough for his fairly basic rig. Before he RMAs the PSU, are there any other component failures which could result in a PC not powering up at all?
cheers :)

I think there is a paper clip trick or something which allows you to test the PSU. Never used it before but you could google that and give it a go.

Thanks for the advice, but surely that would only prove that the PSU was producing power, not that it was producing enough power to turn on the rig?

Has he done the obvious ones such as making sure the switch on the rear of the psu is actually on, all neccessary cables plugged in, main 24 pin cable plugged all the way into the mobo (mine is extremely tight), tried a different power lead, cable not come loose etc?

Well it would help to know if the PSU was producing any power, if it is then just connect the essential components and try it.
