Is this enough

Hi,
Would an Enermax 400 w psu be enough to run an intel 3i 550, 460gtx graphics, hhd, asus xonar dx, and dvd rw?

Its only months old....and I'm tight.

Yes, Enermax is one of the best brands around.

Could we have the model though, just to be sure?

The psu is an Enermax Liberty 400awt. A modular cable unit.

It's the decider on a new asus sound card or psu.......with baited breath I wait......

What's the PC used for? If its like a media PC or even light gaming then 400w will be enough.

Should be fine unless you've got a lot of HDDs in the mix

well he did say "hdd" so its safe to assume that its a single one. they use around 33 watts per drive.

Ok Cookeh,
Its evens, surfin, music, mainly playback, little dvd record, gaming.
Then I can play 3-4 hrs or so. mainly fps.

prob just have the one HDD, had a samsung spinpoint recommended at 1TB.
doubt I'll ever need that much, got 2x200 at mo....knowhere near filled after 4 yrs.
Any to recommend?

500GB drives are going so cheap its silly.

This Seagate Barracuda is the cheapest, but the fastest!

Hey,
yeah Cookeh, I saw that one.

I'm basing my new kit on the gigabite mobo, i3 cpu and corsair 4Gb ram bundle.
msi 460 gtx graphics, new HDD prob seagate 500Mb
need a new case so I was going with a zalman 9+...cos its £45 comes with 2x fans and front hd audio.
Toss up between coveted asus xonar dx..a treat for the ears.... or a whirring workhorse that I forget once installed.
Any suggestions you guys have are appreciated.
Give you an idea of my philosophy, as a poor papa, I Never buy the latest games....usually buy them a couple yrs down the line...you know 2 for £15.
So my 460 gtx is'nt going to have to work too hard. ie. just bought Assassin's creed.
Does not work on my aging athlon 3500 with a galaxy gs7600 ..time for an upgrade.
(or handgrenade).

Should be fine. The 12v rails look pretty good for a 400watt supply

my kids i7,ud7,460gtx blew up a 600w ocz psu in 4 weeks
enermax are a quality brand (my psu is 1000w enermax galaxy) but that little 460 gtx on full load seems to be a hungary little beast.....i would like that psu to be 500w if possible just for alittle head room but a 400w enermax should be ok

ps my kids psu is now a 850 enermax galaxy i got from members market...go on 460gtx do your worst.....
