Hi all, So currently i have a Honda PCX 125ESP and LOVE it!!!
BUT i'm starting to want a bigger bike... now in order to do so i need to take my A something licence.

I have been wondering if i could sell my scooter and use the money to pass my bike test and buy a cheap (propper) bike?

Finance is not an option as i wouldn't pass the checks and the funds available are only what i could get for my scoot. I'm thinking i should be able to get a reasonable 2nd hand motorbike for a few hundred quid?

What size engine should i aim for? 250? 400? 600?

You're looking at around £5-600 just for the test, that's going to leave nothing really to buy, tax and insure something that will actually run.

Cheapest "big" bike in half decent nick will be £500-£1k. Then you have insurance, tax, etc.

If you're over 24 you can do your full 'A' license which lets you ride any engine size. Training course and test fees will be anywhere from £500 to £1000 depending how much training you need. And that's if you pass first time.

If you want to do your full test, and get a big bike - get saving.

yeah i'm 30 so no issues there, so it would be worth to save up for the test and a bit more then sell my bike and get a bigger one? I only work 5 mins from home on my bike but it's nice to have enough power to overtake trucks and feel safer on the dual carriageway.

"Once you go Jap" lol!
Thanks for the advice! i'll have a look and see what kind of licence to go for and bikes etc. For now i'll get my CBT done and then i have 2 years to get saving!
Buying computer bits all the time doesnt help i guess haha!

I'll be going for a SV650 or TDM900 when I eventually pass my A2 test, both are pretty decent bikes according to reviews etc.

I'm loving my SV650S riding position is taking some getting used to and playing about with to stop my hands going dead because I'm used to such an upright position on my old YBR but it's a brilliant bike.
