So we get foxexs in my town. Usually this is fine. But Ive now noticed this occasional distressed call. It sounds like a monster being slained. I looked out and caught it once. It seemed to be a young fox, rolling around the ground, away from other animals.
So does anyone know if such cries are normal? Or is this an an animal in need of help? http://www.filedropper.com/mov001_3
thx

They generally seem quite mangy, disease ridden and oddly behaving especially those lurking around city suburbs.

EDIT: Used to hear that all the time when I lived in London when the foxes were about, sounds a little more distressed than usual but they always have that unearthly yelp.

I can't hear the audio as I'm in bed but contact your local vet if you are able to catch it, try and video the behaviour as well.

Also contact the rspca and upload the video / audio to your local rspca Facebook page, try and get some advice there.

Finally see if you can find a fox / wildlife forum you can ask on, they have very knowledgeable amateurs on there.

Good luck, it's awful to hear anything in distress.

*edit* - obviously the vet is the last resort after getting more info.

Stupid iPhone can't open the link but knowing the fox scream / yelp I'd say it was just horsing around. Either that or it's having a fight with a cat.

Foxes in London make some god awful distressed noises. It's nothing to worry about. Foxes are bizarre. It's mental during mating season.

Thats the noise they make. It's unpleasant but normal. If they are rolling around the ground on their back it's usually because they've found a smell they like.

Can you blame them for sounding like that when they have to live next to
