Is this going to be a problem?

Literally just this second opened my OCUK D5 HF plexi top combo to find a whopping great crack in the plexi, I don't know how these things are assembled or work for that matter, is the crack going to be a problem?

Yeh i would say it will cause you a problem m8 as just by looking at the 2nd pic the fitting
down look very tight. I would get it RMA'd buddy.

hhmn weird stress fracture by over tightenening or a manufacturing fault ? tbh it aint right so i would return if possible it depends if the fracture decends right through or is just on the surface if it wil cuase problems looking at the pics in pic 2 it looks like the uppermost thread was over tightened maybe. or at least is wasnt screwed on correctly as in the same way you would tighten a cylinder head so as not to tension one side more than another

save yourself the worry and return it imo the wait will be worth the future aggrevation annoying as it is to wait for a replacement

I wouldn't use it as it is! The vibration from the pump is likely to cause more problems, i.e I can see that chunk to the right falling right off.

To me it looks like it's taken a knock, under tension from the screws (probably overdone) .... crack

2 options,

a) return as damaged
(or personally I would, if I couldn't wait and wasn't busy)
b) get some perspex adhesive from diy store, carefully remove the pump and fill gaps with adhesive, small chunks at a time (don't go blobbing it all over), apply a little, let it dry, apply some more etc.. until you are confident you have good bond

yer sod the repairs return it mate you want your system to be as perfect as you can i guess justt looked again at the pics i wouldnt be happy

I'll just return it, I do have some Belzona to hand, its an adhesive designed for holding just about anything together including plastics, metals and fiberglass, but its far from pretty.

I'd be surprised if the damage was transit related as the pump was packed in near 3" of foam.

So my build just going to have to wait another week, at least this gives me time to make sure I have everything else in order. Its just my luck tbh, I knew everything was going far too smooth :p

True, just going to have to wait, here was me thinking the GPU blocks would be the hold up on my build :p

never-mind, I know OCUK have top notch customer service so I'd expect to have a replacement in hand by weds/thurs next week :)

Possibly, I'm hopeful that they will send a new one out tomorrow and the old one will go back on delivery of the new, but we will see, they might want to see the damaged one in the flesh before sending a replacement.

Just had a better look at the pump, the whole plexi top is cracked, as in the whole diameter around where the D5 is fitted to the top is cracked, has to have been put on too tight, I'm surprised who ever fitted it didn't hear it crack as they tightened it :(

Mistakes do happen, but I have to say I expected better from OCUK.

Have left a note in the CS section, they are usually good for a quick reply durring opening hours, so I'll give them until I finish work tomorrow at 12 if nothing I'll get on the phone.

Suppose I can still get on and leak test the radiator tomorrow, get any other potential head-aches out of the way :p

Yep that looks like a no fixer ;)

If you haven't done so already, be sure to link to this post in CS which will hopefully accelerate the process of getting a replacement

Yeah I linked to this thread in my CS post :)

Need to have a dig around work tomorrow to find a box for it and some more padding me thinks! As the crack is around the whole diameter I don't want thing to arrive back in two pieces :p

It almost looks as if the pump has been tightened into place at a slight angle, causing the initial crack and it then spreading when the other bolts were pulled into place.

Will keep this thread updated with whats happening, I'm sure OCUK won't mind the positive press :)

Got the new pump today, fully in tact, though now I notice there is a gap on some sides of the plexi top, does it need tightened further or is it supposed to be like this?
