Hi there, my mum just came back with a GeForce 6200, Is this card any good? i am wondering because i am awaiting the release of crysis and i thought would it be best to put another say £50 to it and get a 6700gt? or will crysis play on low settings with this card??

Thanks

Sam.

EDIT oh and its 256 mb ddr

and i have 512 ram.. soon to be 1.5 gig

And a amd 3200+ witch is overclocked but im not sure what to...

A 6200 is not a good card, if you can afford the extra buy a 7600gt(provided you have a PCI-E motherboard, I think the AGP version is even more expensive still). When you say the CPU is an AMD 3200, is that an A64 3200 e.g. socket 754 or socket 939 or is it an XP3200 e.g. socket A?

The reason I ask is that your whole system may not be suitable to play Crysis well(I don't know the minimum requirements) but there is little point in throwing good money after bad if you see what I mean.

lmao....

sorry, in answer the the question in the title.....no

especially not if he is after playin crysis....and tbh, no the 6700 is not good either, both are poor cards and you'd be lucky to play crysis with EVERYTHING turned off in a v.low res

6800 and above would be the minimum required i'd say

yes it will probably just about run on something slightly lower (before people start) but in order for it to look like a game rather than a nice slide show you're gona need something beastly

the 6200 is a very low end card, with extremely poor performance, it is just about as good as something like an onoard intel chipset...

it shares memory from your main RAM as well which is wonderful for system performance...

how much did he get paid and how much did he pay for it? coz if he bought it new (about £30) and you say theres another £50 you could have put on it, you could have got a 2nd hand 6800gt off the members market for about that)

Hmmm... it seems that pc world dont have the AGP version :@, witch means no staff discound from my brother... :'(, WHY WHY WHY!!! oh im on about the 7600GT card by the way, they dont do them in AGP, oh and the PCI version is very dear and the AGP will be even more i think....

And MuSsEr i think ** going way to far for crysis witht he specs there mate... Have you seen a video of the game on the low settings.... because it could be totaly differant...

Anyway, any idea were i can get a AGP 7600GT from or a even better card second hand... on here somewere... that i may have missed... :P

Anyway thanks..

Sam.

OK, if your gonna play crisis, at E3, they were using the latest hardware and it was still laggy in some places!!!

I think youre gonna need a top of the range card to play this one at decent quality settings, throw in a high speed dual core processor and a 1.5 Gb of RAM and then it will play Crysis.

If you get all of the upgrades you mentiones and get a 7600GT, then it will play Crysis, not sure how well though, but it will play it. (Mabey processor too slow, anyone?)

In short, you have more chance of playing Crysis on a Commadore 64 than on your current PC.

yep, thanks for the general agreement there Rokusho

to put it bluntly, last gen cards will play crysis...but VERY badly and it min everything

this gen cards will play it, med - high, but will still stutter in places and things will have to be turned off (unless your running a 7950 or x1950 which will probably handle max all in it)

next gen cards (dx10 etc) will probably eat it for breakfast

All i want to do thought is be able to play it on low graphics with a ok framerate were it doesnt look too choppy... 40-50 fames...

Any other graphics cards would be nice to no aswell, equal to the 7600gt and around the same price... or any place that have a AGP 7600 in stock or even point me to were a 6800 is... or anything... thanks

Sam.

There have been no official system requirements released, so I am wondering where you're all getting this fantastic "insider information" from.

I imagine the game will run, albiet not looking great, with a 3200+ processor and a higher Geforce6 series graphics card like a 6600GT or 6800NU (if the OP did get a 7600GT then even better.) Even Oblivion scales back enough to run on an AthlonXP 2700+ and 9800 Pro, and we all know that Gamebyro is actually a horribly optimised engine compared to CryEngine which has proven itself to be fantastic again and again.

x1800 isnt bad
6800gs
7800gt second hand (or even gtx 2nd hand)

(dont understand people who look at a game like crysis tho and go...i want to play that...il get a budget card so i can run it on min...but can stil play it..whats the point? surely u want it to look as nice as in the videos?)

why not save until it actually comes out, should have a few hundred by then (as long as your not on pocket money) and then get the latest dx10 or whatever card thats out by then so you can run it max everything and go "OMG THATS NICE"....rather than "yeah it runs, but looks like quake 1...ooh, atleast im enjoying the story o_0"

your saying very similar to what we are there "high end 6-series will run it...not very well but will run it"

its not specialist inside information or any rubbish like that, its common sense and you even agreed with us...

Graphics aren't important to some people, MuSsEr, especially not on a budget. The videos we've seen are running on Crossfired X1900XTs which is out of reach of 90% of gamers.

No, no. I said they will run it but not look great, it might run fine just as a 9800 Pro does in Oblivion so long as you're sensible with settings.

Finaly, someone who doesnt think that just because this game looks really nice at high detail it will be really demanding at low... its not going to be as demanding as u all think... yes it will be demanding but are they gonna release a game that wont play on millions of people systems?...

Anyway i need help in finding a card... one as good or better than the 7600GT, i have the extra money, but the card needs to be about £50-£70 on top of the £50 i already have really, thanks a lot

I need help... :(

.

bf2 didnt play on loadsa systems....ea didnt care

all the peopl with last gen cards at the time (5600 and lower etc) they couldnt play it, ea didnt care

so what makes you think other companies will be any different, especially if dx10 is out by then

Problem with 5x00 series wasn't just down to BF2, same applied for Oblivion and the fault was more due to nVidia not preparing their cards for future games, ATI did and their gen was fine.

Yup, let's face it, the FX series was junk. Let's also face it that, according to the Steam survery, most gamers are using Geforce 6600 or Geforce 6600GT cards and I have no doubt that Crytek will allow Crysis to run fine on these cards no matter how bad it might look. Crytek are not known for crappy, unoptimised coding.

and I asked...why would you look at the videos of farcry...and go "that looks really god, id love to run that in minimum everything"

???
