I was just thinking to myself. In order to use the surger, you need to buy special packs of Guinness which, currently, are only sold in Tescos. If these are a promotional item, then surely Guinness will stop selling the special surger cans in the near future, rendering the surger unit useless?

Well has anyone tried it with the normal stuff?

Yep and nothing happens.

What's more, is if you use a surger can it only works once. If you press the button again nothing happens.

They must have put some chemical in it that reacts to the sound waves generated by the surger unit. I also noticed that when you pour it there isn't any head whatsoever.

I wander how long the said special surger cans will be about for, and is there any way to activate the surgeness with out the special unit, ie tapping the glass sharply down on a hard surface?

Feek the beer Guru has one and he rates it, plus it a gadget which you use then put in the loft, its the ulimate beer drinking geek accessory

I was in Tesco with my fiancé last week when I spotted the Sales counter that was selling gift packs.
I was quite impressed and got a decent sample from the sales woman. I know my beer, and it certainly tasted very good.

I didn't like the idea of having to get the special cans for it though, so I passed.

I really like Guinness. Extra cold is my pint of choice while in the pub

anyone tried it with a normal can of guiness rather than the special surger cans? if so, does it do the same job and what makes the surger guiness different?

interested in trying as i love a pint of the black stuff :)

Go back through the thread and find out...

The surger cans have no widget, they pour flat and then the ultrasonic waves from the surger platform cause the bubbles to form

What's the difference between this and normal druaght cans with the widget

The way they are frothed, widget injects air on opening the can and the surger uses ultrasound to achieve the same effect.
