Hi All,

A Guy in a well known Computer Retailer told me yesterday that NEC had gone bust a few months ago, is this correct? i thought he was talking out of his arse and was just tring to make me buy something else that they actually stocked.

but is he right?

NEC (was, Nippon Electric Company) Corporation is part of the Sumitomo Group and as far as I know, not in trouble (Well not any more than any other company).

We had a NEC system for our phones at work installed last week which involved NEC having to do a bit of work so they are still trading!

NEC are pulling out of building desktop computers, I don't think it effects any of thier other business units i.e displays. Maybe he is just confused.

the NEC panel production arm of their company was outsourced in Feb 09, but NEC display (in terms of screen manufacturing) is still going strong. some info here:
