is this hardware good enough to run crysis?

Don't know if this is the correct forum or not, but here goes.

I have an inten pentium D 3.4GHZ
2 gig RAM
Ge 8600GT
Some Dell mobo
Everything as standard, not OCed.

running XP SP2

Will that run crysis as is?

Not bothered about how good it would look, low-medium settings would be fine.

maybe on the lowest of settings even uber high end machines right now are struggling with crysis..

Yeah, like Egosh said you'd probably have to play it on the lowest setting and on a pretty low res (1024*768, maybe even lower), although i suspect at even those framerates it wouldn't be enjoyable to play.

If you were to upgrade your system in order to have a better chance at playing it, i'd get the 8800GT, although that might be bottlenecked sightly by your processor. I suppose it all depends on how baldy you want to play it and how much money you have to spend

There's a huge difference in framerate between jungle and post alien levels, you'll need to drop it down a few notches.

i just got the 8600GT

i'm not going to spend any money on my computer

i'm not desperate to play crysis, it just looked like a good game and i was wondering whether i should spend the money on it or not =p

Has anyone tried the low settings though? I did it for a laugh the other day on my brother's PC - the difference between low and medium is phenominal. Lowest totally ruins the game.

i think u *** just get away with med spec. trust me av got crysis, nd u need a 8800 GTX to run on the highest spec. I got away with medium on the demo, cos wen a had the demo a had a 1950 pro, so as long a u keep AA off nd put the stuff like textures on ow, most of the stuff u can run on med spec.

nd dont forget, in the options bit of crysis theres a tool that will configure the recommended setting for ** system automatically.
