in my quest to quit PC gaming and downsize everything and be left with an xbox 360 i want to get a HD TV for 2 reasons,

1. to obv display HD pictures from my xbox 360
2. This particular pc supports PC input, i.e i want to use it as the screen for my media centre shuttle (to be construced this week)

So is this TV

Philips 20" 20PF5320 LCD Widescreen TV which can be had from certain e tailers for 450 quid

any good

Questions

1. Will it have the right ports, i.e will i be able to go any buy a HD cable for the xbox and plug it in, and will it take the VGA cable from my current monitor.

2. Is the picture quality less than the samsungs or the like

3. Anything else i should kno

Says this for the HDTV bit, it says it can display it, but not with the highest HD-quality. This might be because the TV:s resolution is too low or the TV might be missing the digital inputs required (DVI and/or HDMI with HDCP support).

It has the DVI input, so all you would need is the VGA/DVI dongle that you get supplied with graphics cards. :)

I think it should be a cracking picture, but best to get more opinions. :)

Sound a good TV, though it's a little small for my liking :p

Looking at the spec online, it says it comes with a DVI-I to component cable, meaning it has component input. The HD Component cable for the Xbox360 comes with the premium as standard.

Else if you went for the VGA option, you'd need a DVI to VGA adapter as well as the Xbox 360 VGA cable, which are quite hard to come by still.

I've gone for the LG 26LX2R Its 26" and has 1:1 Pixel Mapping so its good for everything really PC\Xbox and anything else you care to throw at it.

Plus it came highly recommended by Gordy :)

it sounds quite a good little tv doesnt it? i like the way it could replace my 21 inch CRT monitor and my 22 inch TV.So getting a 20 inch flat screen wont be much of a downgrade for me, its going in my room as apposed to a main tv for the house.

I dont think the HD picture will be that bad, philips make good tv's imo, i used to work for them

Yeah they do make good Tv's, ive had a few in the past. :)

I had one of those TV's and to be fair I was dissapointed (mine was fualty anyway!) there is only one DVI input at the back of the unit as well as one scart and the picture was not brilliant, my advice would be to get a sammy, but the smallest HD ready one of those is 26" :(

Indeed... If you can stretch your budget out then the 26LX2R is fantastic. If you only want it for your Xbox 360 then the Samsungs are slightly cheaper and do a fair job for PC. But for truly perfect PC usage the LG can't be beaten right now. As 0gami said it has 1:1 pixel mapping which means there will be absolutely no scaling going on when connecting it to the PC. It truly is a sight to behold. Not only that but it also has both DVI, HDMI and component inputs so your future proofed should you wish to add a PS3 at a later date. :)
