I am installing a new SSD with Win 7, but keeping the old HDD in the sytem.

Do I,

1. unplug all drives leaving only SSD plugged in
2. Install Win 7 on SSD
3. replug other drives in
4. Delete everything (win 7 directory, games etc) from my old drive, leaving only stuff I want
5. Run drive through ccleaner to tidy everything up.

Backup first, before you do anything. Windows is a bit iffy about deleting system folders/files sometimes even if it's from an old install though

I, myself, wouldn't bother unplugging the drives and plugging them back in and would copy the data off the existing HDD onto a backup. Install on SSD and format the existing one once your happy, then copy it back across. Always triple check you are installing/formatting the right one!

*Sometimes* Windows puts the 100MB system partition on a different drive than the one you are installing to. IDK why, and that's all fine and dandy until you unplug the drive in question or it dies, then your system won't boot. This is why I personally recommend just having the target drive plugged in when installing

Cheers guys,

To be honest, all I really 'need' to keep is about 20GB of music and files. Only other important thing is videos and they are on my 1TB HTPC drive.

Might just grab a 32GB stick and use that. Should be plenty.
