Hi everyone,

I bought this 2600k processor today and I am not so sure about testing it in my PC. Does this processor look damaged to you? (Notice the discolouration.)

Should I send this back?

Kind regards,

Farore

Looks like grease, finger or TIM. I'd use a soft cloth/cotton wool with some isopropyl to give it a clean. Actually, I'd stick it in a motherboard and test first, but there you go :p

looks like just tarnish on the pads, These cpus are over 5 years old now. I have a i3 2100 that has been out of a machine for a while and there are patches of slightly darker areas but it still works perfectly. Stick it in and see if it works. :)

I think he may be referring to the discoloured surface mount caps, they look like have have discoloured due to excessive temps
