Is this just a poor line? (Line stats inside)

I've been trying to help a family member troubleshoot slow internet, started with these.
ISP is sky, using their stock hardware.

Not a very fast connection...
Looking to improve it anyway really?

At 55dB attenuation the speed is actually just about right. 55dB is a good distance from the exchange, several km. If this is not the case then maybe something is dragging the line down.

If FTTC is available it is likely worth the upgrade if anything more than 4Mbit is desired.

Looking at the SNR as well, for ADSL the target is usually around 6 so it seems pretty good so far, but then again looking at the up time, this is a new connection? If so DLM might lower the speed if it detects any disconnections, so try not to reboot the router often.

I remember parents had the same 54-55dB attenuation, back when I lived with them and there was only ADSL/ADSL2 broadband at the time. Even with SNR tweaking, the best I could it get to sync was 5Mb and it wasn't that stable... So that's about right.

You could try remove the bell wire (google it) from the master socket, if this hasn't already been done. It can really improve speeds and stability.

Have you checked if they have FTTC available? Probably worth an upgrade.

Sadly no bell wire to remove.
2 year old house on a new estate, typical great planning there, no fibre available yet.

Thanks for the insight all!
