I was looking at this laptop and wanted to get some opinions

I have owned one laptop and a netbook in my whole like

I gave my old acer aspire 1672lmi away to family member when i got my medion akoya e1210 netbook a year ago. I had my acer since Dece 2004

Upgraded my medion to 2gb ram, and 500gb hd and its runing windows 7 and turned it in to hackintosh to experiment with and happy with the outcome and now gone back to windows 7.

So anways after having a shot of my partners xps m1530 with 2.5ghz cpu, 512mb graphics 8600gs m i miss not having a big laptop so i am looking to get another laptop.

This is the laptop in mind i was looking at and wondered if any one has it or has any reviews on it or would like to express there opinion on it.

Consider this a free bump for someone more up on this stuff to answer your question.

I'm personally not a fan of Acer models as they seem to churn out so many variations, and unless you have the part number then it is a right pain to find the specific specification. Especially as Acer UK don't list all the different part numbers, or those for custom large retailer builds.

As World of Warcraft is meant to be more CPU bound than graphics chip, I'd be more tempted to try the i5 build in your first post, but then I would also prefer the larger screen size (and higher resolution) of the 18.4" models so you can accommodate custom UI and add-ons more easily, if that's applicable to yourself.

Also be handy to know if the graphics chip runs at a reduced speed, and if DDR2 or DDR3 for the dedicated graphics memory.

The first one you posted is more stronger and with newer tech, it will use less power, especially with that 5650's powerplay function. Also the i5 is a quad core processor, and with it's newer achitecture it performs much better than the Core 2 Duo.

Wrong, the i5-430M is Dual Core with HT, same as the i3... I think the i5 has turbo boost although I would guess this is bios / cooler permitting though so not sure if ever laptop model with an i5 supports it out the box.

gamesaregood is correct, the i5-430M is Dual Core with HT and turbo.. Also acer support is very bad.

My brother has a laptop with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 or 240 or something like that and it has trouble with some games (restarts it self) so i would go with the i5 with the 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5650
