Is this memory related?

i pepped my athlon 64 3200 venice up to run at 140FSB, had to drop memory down to 166(333?) from 200(400) in the DDR settings to boot into windows fine. PC ran fine all day, no problems with heat etc, games worked fine etc for odd session i had.

then late last night, played BF2 for about 1.5 hours straight, and then all of a sudden i got some serious sound stuttering, game pause, then lost connection to server error and booted me back to BF2 menu, game still stayed on, no hanging etc. This happened again shortly after, so knocked it on the head. Went back to the desktop, and i had a couple of pauses shortly after too, you know, where nothing happens for several secs when you try to move the mouse.

ive put things back to stock for tonights gaming session, but just wondered if this sounded like memory issue? its geil value 2x1gig dual channel, and to be honest, didnt expect to get anywhere near 140FSB.

i'm a novice, so may have made some glaring error overclocking. Its on the ASUS nforce 4 SLI board.
 
the pc did kind of lock up, i couldnt move the mouse in the desktop at all..just hung!

in BF2 it all went weird, loud noise, pauding, game locked up before dumping me out the server.

this is what made me think it was memory

HT, oh no, i have not looked at that, Athlon64 is new to me, ive overlooked something rather important have i? Does lowering this effect performace compared to increased FSB?

i am only used to increased FSB and playing with the multiplier, as you can probably see :(
 
i see, so i may be ok, if i drop it down to 3x, will perhaps give that a whirl at the weekend, cheers for that

so, it may not have been memory but the PCI interface
 
im not a serious overclocker, so didnt run prime for like 12 hours, i ran it for a couple and it was fine..as i dont often use the pc intensively for longer than that to be honest

obviously something wasnt quite right, will have more of a play when i get more time
