Core 2 Duo T8400 @2.4 ghz
8600m GT
3ghz ram
250gb Hd

looking at Studio XPS 13

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13Ghz, 3MB, 1066MHz)
512MB nVidia GeForce 210M graphics card - MLK
320GB Free Fall Sensor (7200RPM) Hard Drive
4096MB 1067MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]

Looking for games and more portable. would this be a worth while upgrade or can you recommend something else?

thanks all

According to Notebookcheck's mobile graphics table the 8600mGT is better than the 210M. Although there are no direct benchmarks of the 210m it is rated in position 80 whereas the 8600mGT is at 77. Not much between them so gaming wise the performance won't be that much better if at all.

Processor is a bit better, but again its debatable as to whether or not it will be a noticeable improvement.

How much would you need to cash out on the new Studio XPS 13? Assuming you would be selling your Vostro?

well tbh looking to give vostro away to mother in law,, was looking at netbook but think might but under powered for what i want...

was looking to spend 600-700 but want something small ish... dont mind if 15" but no bigger and less bulky than my vostro

Notebookcheck havent actually tested the 210m yet their 3dmark scroe is an estimation based on previous models

Dells studio XPS 13 comes with the 210m and they get 4-5000 in 3dmark06 depending on CPU
