I'm copying some files across from my sata hard disk to my new usb 2 disk and i decided to watch a movie (on a separate sata disk) but the play back is extremely jerky, presumably because i'm copying the files. I thought dual core was supposed to take care of things like this :(

it doesn't sound right. What channels are the drives on? If they are on 1 and 2, try on 1 and 3, as the bus might be maxed out as Jokester said. Still doesn't sound right though.

i had a problem like this when i got my sata hd, i needed to install some extra drivers that came with the mobo... Some silly chipset things i think, but it stopped all that jerking video replay rubbish... ;)

well, one of them is on channel 2 or something, but the other disk (the one i'm copying on to) is a usb 2 one so it shouldn't really be anything like that.

i will try updating my chipset / sata drivers from the dfi site :)

THANK YOU THANK YOU! I was always scared of updating my chipset drivers for some reason. Just updated them, and now the problem is fixed. Not only that though, i can now encode video without lowering the priority and watch films at the same time as well, which had always been a bit jerky before and left me feeling short changed by my dual core. Now i really feel like i have a proper dual core :D

Glad i could help m8... I know when i built this system the video jerked like mad, drove me mad for weeks, until i updated the mobo chipset drivers... :D
