is this normal?

hi, i spent ages playing with different settings to OC my Q8300. i have now got it running stable, the thing is, is it normal for thing like realtemp, cpuz etc to show changing multipliers and cpu speeds? they seem to change from a multiplier of 6 up to 7.5, adjusting the cpu speed accordingly, is this normal, as in the processor will run at the speed it needs to rather than the fastest speed all the time?

ok kool, was just wondering, made me panic abit when cpuz showed up a a multiplier of 6.

its not something i have come accross before as i havent really OC'd for ages and when i did it was with AMD stuff.

think with a few more tweaks can get it even higher, really want to get to 3.5GHz
