Hi all, I suspect this is OK but as it is the first time I have come across it I am just looking for someone to confirm.

I recently purchased a thermochill ta120.2 radiator. Upon opening it today and taking it out of the box, it appears new except that the inlet and outlet have no caps / blanks covering them and are covered in a white-ish substance that looks a lot like limescale.

Previous radiators I have purchased (such as the XSPC EX240 which I also bought at the same time) came with caps for the inlet and outlet and were perfectly clean.

I suspect this is fine and that I can just clean it when I flush the radiators out before use but I am looking for a second opinion.

Thanks in advance

I suspect that there is some thing wrong with the radiator. As I haven't come across with a radiator with inlet and outlet without any cap.

Sounds like it has been used. Probably fine though.

I bought it from OCUK as brand new so I would be surprised if this is the case, though the thought had crossed my mind. Everything was still sealed in the box though.

Could it just be a result of the manufacturing process?

I wouldn't worry about it as long as you can wipe it off and the rad doesn't leak.
As you mentioned, its probably due to a manufacturing process such as flushing.
Can you get a photo of it, as its probably best to see it.

That looks like full on corrosion, if its a new rad return it asap, looks like it was stored somewhere damp.

Right I have decided after reading all of your opinions on here that I am not happy with the radiator and am going to RMA it under the 14 day guarantee. I have just sent OCUK a webnote, anyone know if they are around on Sundays?
