just bought a 1080p 27" monitor. Upon connecting said monitor I set my graphics card to output 1080p image @ 60Hz... I assumed this would all that is required but resulted in black borders around every edge of the monitor.

To 'solve' the problem I had to set my catalyst control centre to 10% overcan which now means the picture fills the screen... BUT I can now move my mouse cursor to the extreme right of the desktop such that it goes off the screen and in to some pixels I am unable to view.

Surely this isnt right? I assumed getting a 1080p and setting graphics card to 1080p would just make everything work without the need to mess around. What am i doing wrong?

Is there a setting on the monitor for pixel mapping? iirc it's called several things by different vendors, but I think you want 1:1 mapping. Also, what monitor and what cable?
