Is this normal?

I recently bought a new 1440p monitor and turned my setup into a dual screen setup (my old monitor is now my 2nd monitor and is 1080p)

What ive noticed is that my CPU usage in task manager seems to be higher in general and im wondering if thats to do with the higher resolution? Before while just doing basic things like browsing the internet, usage was probably 5% usually (I have a OC Ryzen 2600 @ 4.1ghz) and ever since I got the new monitor it seems to be ~15% whilst doing regular tasks and browsing.

Is this normal and to be expected with a higher resolution monitor? Of course the GPU usage has gone up, but thats to be expected, but just wondering if its normal for the CPU usage to be up as well.

Thanks for any help!

With dual screens I don't recall seeing my CPU usage increase. By how much sas it increased and have you looked at Task Manager to see what is taking up your cycles?

Not a huge amount, but I think its mainly due to the new screen being 1440p and I think its the higher resolution thats caused this, as it requires more GPU power, which in turn usually coincides with increased cpu power.

Its not a massive jump or anything, but Id say around a 7-10% increase on average. Nothing huge, but I definitely noticed the increase in task manager compared with before

7-10% is not right.

That's massive.

Yeah it seems a bit much, been checking it last few days and its about 10-12% atm, so it has gone back down. Might have just been a coincidence or a one off of what I saw in all honesty. It has probably gone up, but by probably only 2-5% at most i think, which seems a bit more believable
