It is offensive if you are offended by gay people and what they do, and trust me a lot of people are.

I think a huge amount of people are offended by gays but are not openly admitting it, I guess to a small extent, even I am I don't think it is wrong however. I am not really suprised, this isn't a PC case, I think this is somthing else, and in America one of the most conservative and arguably quite insidous nations on earth I am not really suprised. On a slightly related note it took until 2000 for Alabama to repeal it's last anti-interraccial marriage law.
