Is this OK? Ryzen 7600 and PBO.

Hi all

Just after a little reassurance that what I've done is OK. :)

I've set my bios preset for performance boost to PBO - 85 Tjmax, -40mv all cores.

Previously with just -50mv all cores (set manually) in R24:

VS. now with the preset enabled:

Nice little 42 point gain.

But when viewing Ryzen Master I saw the values for PPT, TDC and EDC and was (a little) worried. Is it OK as the temp limit now takes over at 85ºC? So is it saying run what you like until you hit that limit?
I'm also curious as the CPU Power was just 43W but the TDP for the 7600 is 65W. Is there more to give as I'm still only hitting 55ºC?

Thanks!

It’s fine.

AM5 and Intel 12th and newer CPUs are all designed to run at near 90 degrees.

You could try increasing the TDP wattage limit and see if your performance improves but it depends.

I did once do a manual overclock with my AM4 system and it was faster than PBO but it took a day or so to make sure it was faster and actually stable (maybe a little less but still) and then I did a BIOS update and forgot to save the settings and now I just run PBO auto because it’s fine.

I’d not worry too much about points on R24, it’s fine but still synthetic, rather do a performance test using a custom work load and see what the improved time to completion is when you change one variable at a time.

The 7600 and 7600x chips are the same with the x being a much higher tdp

Plenty in the tank there

Id see what happens giving pbo +200 headroom

I run mine at -30 +200 for 5.35ghz all core. Tops out at about 70c that is under water though

I've got mine set to standard RM PBO setting so 420PPT 280TDC but these suck back such little juice its not really needed mine never goes above 80w CPU Power so as long as youve bumped it to 7600x safe limits (105 from memory) youl be fine

For comparison though my r24 score is 854
