Is this ok?

I had a service two months ago in which the BMW main dealer put a nice big ol' tick next to "Discs: Check surface".

It failed it's MOT today. I wonder why...

Have you got a cooper s?

No, it's a One.

Oh - in case you didn't notice - the disc has broken away at the top as well   and the inside of the rim literally breaks away as you rub your finger across it..

Hows it got that bad

I'm not too sure! I know *nothing* about car mechanics but no way in hell has that happened in the 2 months since the previous service. The guy at the independant who MOT'd it today said that it looks like 1-2+ years of corrosion, meaning why wasn't it picked up in the previous MOT (the day before I picked up the car) or the MOT before that (done at the same dealer as the service!)

I'm on the warpath tomorrow

1 or 2 years... **** me.. thats crazy...
did they sell you them, or where they on the car?

I believe they are the original set. The car has done 35k miles. Surely they should last longer than that?

depends, how old is the car and how hard is it driven?

I replaced the discs all round on my clio at around 37k but can't imagine it's had a particularly easy life :)

The car's on an 02 plate. I wouldn't say it's driven hard at all.

It's not really the fact that they had to be replaced - I can understand that, it's a wear and tear item. I'm just concerned why it wasn't picked up in previous MOT's, or more importantly the service two months ago where I've got it in writing that they checked it.
