is this overclock safe for an e8500?

Good cooler choice, what are the load temps like now?

Ran IBT and my load temps were 71c, Max it gets to now is 62c.

Is there any better program to monitor temps? I am using coretemp but I am not sure which temp is right as there is such a difference on each core. I am aware this is a known issue on these cpu's but one now is 30c and the other is 39c.

Hwmonitor is a good one to go along side core temp, my cpu cores stay roughly the same, maybe its an uneven mount of the cpu cooler.

Edit:

Thought id see what volts i need for 4ghz, this is without speedstep turned on, so required less then normal, with speedstep on i would need 1.35 -1.4.

Settings where
1.275 vcore in bios (underload droped to 1.23v in cpuz, screen shot was abit late so showed idle vcore)
1.3v Vtt
1.4v Nb
Stock Sb volts

I would definatly play about with speedstep turned off, your idle temps will raise abit, but your overal load temps should be a lot better. But ofcourse each cpu is different.

The heatsink looked ok, It did it when I was using the OCZ cooler. The True looked like it was sitting ok. Will have a look tomorrow. I will definetley have a play about with the speedstep and see if I can get my volts down.

Ah i see, musht just be wonky sensors then ahwell, there not meant for 100% readings anyway just as a guide. Mine never go lower then 38 idle, even if my overal cpu is reading under 30c lol.

Yeh its allways worth a little tinker if your comfortable doing it though, and ofcourse have the time, but now ur load temps seem a lot better with the new cooler even at 1.4v, so thats nice.

I can't wait for my 2nd radiator to finally arrive and can ditch this sinlge 120 rad, for 2 x 240's, 65c for my cores :(, ahwell only cheap water, True easily beats it haha.

Good luck with your testing, ofcourse each cpu is different, same for mobo's, hope you can lower it as then it will be a lot better, but if not still nice temps for that vcore.
