I have 2 steam accounts
1 i opened years ago and only installed HL2 and Team Fortress 2
and the other I opened because i forgo i had the first

I know you cant transfer games from user to user, but if I reinstall TF2 with the account its registered too, would it be possible to copy the game folder with all the TF2 stuff in over to my everyday steam game folder ? and have TF2 work on that

i know its a long sho but thought id ask

Doubt it because that would mean I could log into my friends account on my computer, download his games and then insert them into my steam folder and play them which I doubt would work because everyone would do it.

edit:saying that though you only have one steam folder anyway don't you and its just the log in information that enables the games. (sorry was thinking there'd be two steam folders)

Valve will merge the accounts if you can prove they're both yours, I think. That or they'll take everything away from you for having two accounts.

Ask them. Let us know how it goes.

Oh is that what he is asking......you would be better off emailing steam support and asking them to merge the accounts.

I doubt if the second steam account would let you run TF2. Never tried it but just having files in a folder does not mean you own them.

I suppose moving of games between accounts is forbidden for theft reasons. Someone could hijack your Steam account and transfer all games to theirs.

I've not tried it, but afaik you should be able to merge both accounts files into the same folder tree. You dont have to have steam installed twice in separate folders to run two accounts. Games that are common to both accounts should show up as installed already in the list.

As others have said, having the files is not the same as owning the game. Even if you put the TF2 files into the folder, unless you've actually bought the game on that account, the best you'll have is it saying 'Pre-load complete'.
