Ive had an idea that going to go hand in hand with my dissertation, and was wondering whether it was possible.

Lets say you have a user in the US, and you currently have asterisk/VoIP servers in the US and UK. Is there anyway to have both servers respond to the same address i.e sip.voip.com but route it automatically through the US server based on the location of the user????

Regards

I don't see why not. Have the user connect via DNS sip.domain.tld, a machine at sip.domain.tld checks what continent the users is connection from (IP address lookup?) then tells the users software to reconnect to either uk.sip.domain.tld or us.sip.domain.tld depending on their their apparent location.
Theory seems simple enough, implementing a working solution may not be ;)
