Right, say, theoretically i've got a large download. Something in the region of 2Gb. One possible way of me downloading is to leave my PC on at night and it should be done by the morning.

But is there a way to turn off all the really unnessary things?
Like, once i've set my dowload running, to shutdown:
- The Graphics Card
- Extra HDDs
- Use much less power by just having the main HD and Mobo & RAM on?

My aim is to use as less energy as possible.

Reason i'm asking is a mate of mine is in the states, and his sister got married so I want to watch a few video's of the wedding. He can post it but I thought i'd try downloading it overnight today :)

Well obviously the HDD you're downloading aswell as the windows drive would need to stay on, or i can't see how the data can be written.

Any other drives, Device Manager, properties for the drive then look for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Monitors, right click desktop, properties, screensaver, power options......

Graphics card won't doing much once the monitors turn off, so i shouldnt think there's anything else you can do there.
