Howzit guys,

I have a network setup in a shop, consisting of about 10 computers. Now what I am finding it hard to setup the network the way we need it done. We run a Internet cafe, plus and computer store. So we need to have our personal files stored on the network, while 3 computers having access to them, having access to the other 7 computers. However we don't want the other 7 computers having access to the files on our personal 3 computers.

If that made any sense to anyone, is it possible? if so, how do I go about it?

Many thanks!

how are you planning on sharing these shared files

locally on your own disks, or on a server or NAS Device.

if your storing them locally, your options are considerably more limited than if you share them on a server.

would it not be better to setup a simple server with a domain controller. Then setting up accounts for those people you want access to files (Power users) and then for users of your inter cafe just set them up as guests or a really limited account with internet access only.

This would let you limit accounts right down to just net access, with no access to my computer or control panel etc. You even be able to take away the taskbar all together?

trouble is, your options for limiting access to files are very limited, unless you've got a logon/file server that you will enable you to give access to certain shares only to certain users.
