Hi OcUK,

My sister lives next door and I let her share my internet using wifi,

Recently I have been getting pings of 1000+ and she says she only uses the internet to browse the web and view emails, she very rarely downloads.

I was wondering if it would be possible for her to use her PC as a "hub" and let other people in her house (with their own computers) use the internet via her pc?

She is networked with other people who live in the house via Ethernet for gaming,

I have mac address restrictions on the router so no other computers can connect directly but I don't know if they could connect via being networked to her pc,

Thanks

What you want to do is get another wireless access point with WDS. Then her access point would talk to your access point which talks to t'internet.

Her 'access point' would then have ethernet ports to connect to other PC's.

Pics of your sister as a thanks would be nice..

I think you misunderstood me, i don't want her housemates to be able to use my internet, i was just wondering if it was possible for them to leech it in it's current state

Rubbish, would there be any way I could restrict access to only her pc or is this not possible from my end?

Not really. MAC address filtering would prevent her just bridging the wireless adapter and any wired interface and connecting a switch/wireless AP/other machine, but there's not much you can do if she's using ICS.

i would just use access control list.

so only the mac addresses in your router will be able to connect and use the net. and really easy to set up on most routers.

All you need to do is ask your sister for her mac address (* which is under the laptop or on the wireless card ) and put that in to your control list. you can turn your wireless key off then so the network looks wide open but no 1 can connect unless they are hard wired or unless you have put the mac address in the router.
