Hi guys,

I'm going to be setting up a test server at work soon and was wondering if anyone has tried this:

Having a HDD per user and a fresh install of server 2008 on each.
Would it be possible to choose which HDD to boot from upon start up?
(i've done a dual boot on a single Hard drive before)
Its to get all users famliiar with the setup of servers in general.
About 4 HDDs per test server.

Any thoughts would be great.

Cheers,

Rob

Why not set up Virtual Machines with 2008 installed,
take a snapshot of the machine before any changes are made

- then either duplicate this for each machine, or simply restore the Virtual Machine back to the snapshot.

Agreed. What you suggest will work, but this is a much better idea.

As Andre said, setup a virtual server and then you can configure them however you want, plus it means that they are all accessible at the same time.

I'm enjoying Xenserver at the moment for my test box.

will it care about licensing? i didn't think about the virtual machine route.
will it cope with installing exchange within that environment?
