Hi folks, just wondering if there is any software available, which I can install on my PC, which lets me see how much downloading/uploading is being done by other PC's on my network ? I know there are loads of companies offering software that monitors internet usage but I can only seem to come across those that monitor the usage on the PC that the software is installed on.

To break it down the scenario I am after is, I install software on my main PC and I can then see who on my network is uploading/downloading the most.

Something along the lines of :

"Usage for User 1 : 566mb down/233mb up"
"Usage for User 2 : 1423mb down/67mb up"

etc etc

PS. I am not after monitoring/spying software.

Cheers folks.

With the scant details available it’s difficult to say.

Wireshark would probably allow you to do more-or-less what you want. If you Google it a few other similar tools also turn up that might be more suitable.

If it's for long-term analysis routing all the traffic through a proxy server could be simpler.

Afraid i have to agree with bremen1874 it might just be easier to use a
proxy server to do this.

Especially if you don't keep your PC on all the time, if you find software to
do what you need thats great but are you going to have the PC on all the
time to have the software running to monitor the connections ?

The alternative if your router won't take custom firmware, would be to use a monitor client on each machine that creates logs files, and then create a script to grab those files and parse them.
